For many students at MICA, a café just up the street called On The Hill (OTH) becomes a second home. It’s a small, perpetually crowded space. It’s the place where people gather to lounge, chat, work, and eat its famously affordable bagel sandwiches. On a particularly rainy Monday, the one day OTH is closed, I found myself at home, quietly drawing and studying to the steady rhythm of rain against the windows. As I sat there, I closed my eyes. I felt a sense of uncertainty and isolation, softened only slightly by nostalgia. And then, I found myself thinking about a bagel sandwich from OTH.
