In June, I was traveling and away from home for a couple of months. I created this piece in response to feeling homesick. It depicts me hovering above my parents’ home and street. The main focus of this work was to use as little linework as possible, relying instead on bold shapes and lighting to tell the story. I also experimented with textures I don’t normally use, such as crayon, graphite overlays, and varied clothing textures.
